October is domestic violence awareness month. It’s very important to raise awareness not only in October but every day because a lot of women are in an abusive relationship feeling like there’s no way out. Some people think it’s no trouble to get out of an abusive relationship but, the reality is that it’s one of the hardest things to do. As a result, many women lose their lives, therefore, it's time to take a stand to protect ourselves and our children. Remember ladies there’s always help like family members, friends, co-workers, and many more.


5 facts about domestic violence:


1. Domestic/dating violence is a pattern of controlling behavior that one partner uses to get power over the other. Including physical violence or the threat of physical violence to get control, emotional or mental abuse and sexual abuse.


2. As many as 324,000 women each year experience intimate partner violence during their pregnancy.


3. Every nine seconds in the U.S. a woman is assaulted or beaten.


4. 1/2 of all homeless women and children in the U.S. are fleeing from domestic violence.


5. Domestic violence harms children even when the children are not physically abused many police departments treat domestic violence in the presence of children as a form of child abuse.
