Mental health is so overlooked in the black community, but as black women, we need to be aware of mental health conditions. Being a black woman in this crazy world is hard as fuck! The last thing we need is the lack of equilibrium or sanity in our lives. I know if I wasn't caring about my mental health the way I care about my physical health I would've lost my shit.
Anxiety and depression can cause changes in how we think, feel, and act. Without medical help like talking to a therapist, mental health conditions can get worst and make your life complicated as hell! Trust me, ladies, I'm speaking from experience. Unfortunately, lack of knowledge in our community makes us believe having depression and anxiety is a sign of weakness or even sometimes a punishment from god SMH. For instance, when I was going through depression I would pray to ask God "Why am I going through this?" or "What did I do to deserve this"?
Us black people have been through so much I believe we wanna be seen as strong individuals 24/7 that we're so ashamed of asking for or seeking the help we need. Therefore, we suffer in silence well I say SPEAK UP ladies!
I'm making this blog post to raise awareness and let you queens know there's no need to suffer in silence one thing I learned there's always someone willing to help you! I'm leaving you ladies with some helpful resources. Thank me later!!!
